Context
The Ministry of Education has implemented the 'One Nation, One Student ID' initiative, known as APAAR ID, in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
What is an APAAR ID?
- APAAR ID: Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry
- A digital identification system called 'EduLocker' for students nationwide.
What Does it Do?
- Stores academic qualifications, credit scores, certificates, and other educational data.
- Covers students from pre-primary to higher education levels.
How to Enroll?
- Requires parental consent for student enrollment.
- States are initiating the enrollment process.
Benefits of APAAR ID:
- Provides a unique 12-digit ID for admissions and academic activities.
- Ensures convenience for students.
- Registration options: mobile number, Aadhar Card, or ID and password.
- Available for both new and existing users.
