The Gender Park will be inaugurated on 11th February, 2021 at Kozhikode in Kerala.

About

A just society where all genders have equal access to opportunities, resources and benefits with an equal voice in key decision-making that shapes their lives, communities and the state.

Its opening is coinciding with the second edition of the International Conference on Gender Equality (ICGE-II). The Chief Minister of Kerala Mr. Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the February 11-13 IGCE-II and the Gender Park.

The foundation stone will also be laid by him of the International Women’s Trade and Research Centre (IWTRC) that envisions a reliable and sustained ecosystem for women entrepreneurs and a space for them to trade their products.

A Gender Museum, Gender Library, Convention Centre and an Amphitheatre will also be launched on the same occasion. These four amenities will form the first phase of the Gender Park that works with regard to gender equality in the State.

ICGE-II aims to encourage the economic potential of the women and transgender persons so as to prepare them as sustainable entrepreneurs. The focal theme of the event is ‘Gender in Sustainable Entrepreneurship and Social Business: The Mediating Role of Empowerment’. It is organized in association with the UN Women, a part of the United Nations.

There is huge gap in women representation in employment with respect to the level of education. The event would provide a platform to foresee to question the post-pandemic world and share the present experiences of women across continents.

MISSION

  • To garner knowledge par excellence and encourage learning through transformative research, training and knowledge dissemination.
  • To achieve substantive gender mainstreaming through all stages of planned action- from policy formulation to implementation.
  • To create an enabling space to collaborate and develop innovative partnerships to implement sustainable entrepreneurial and business practices.

It aims to specifically increase state capacity and efficiency by providing reports, evaluations and recommendations on government action in the realm of gender justice. As a registered society under the Department of Women and Child Development, it is uniquely positioned to see that these recommendations are implemented by the government.

Gender Park hopes to engage in transformative research and education in the field of gender. Through the Gender Park’s International Institute for Gender and Development (IIGD) –it will engage in solution-based knowledge management on different aspects of gender, development and governance via fellowships, research and academic training.
