Recently, the first Integrative Medicine Centre was inaugurated
at the Safdarjang Hospital in Delhi, by Union Health Minister.
Key Highlights:
These centres will operate at Government hospitals.
The centres will mainly focus on Ayurvedic medicines and will use
modern technologies.
The main objective of the initiative is to use the traditional knowledge
of Indians in the medicinal field.
Significance:
The Government of India (GoI) has been trying to push
traditional medicines and yoga in the country.
AYUSH is the key player in the field. Right now Indian medicines
need to complement each other and not compete.
Through the Integrative Medicine Centres, the GoI is trying to
reach the grass root levels.
GoI has been launching several schemes to provide inclusive
health care. More than 1.5 lakh Health and Wellness Centres have been
opened under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
With advancements in technology, India is losing its knowledge of
traditional medicines.
The initiatives like Integrative Medicine Centre will help India
protect its precious knowledge in the medicinal field.
