India is ranked 67th globally on the Energy Transition Index (ETI) by
the World Economic Forum (WEF).
Objective-
The index evaluates countries based on their energy system performance
and readiness for a secure, sustainable, and inclusive energy transition.
Top Positions-
Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, and Switzerland occupy the top five
positions on the index. Only 41 countries have shown steady progress over
the past decade.

India is the only major economy with accelerating momentum in all
dimensions of energy transition.
India's progress can be attributed to universal electricity access,
clean cooking options, and renewable energy deployment.
Challenges for India include import dependence, a carbon-intensive
energy mix, and the need to balance economic growth with job creation.
To achieve long-term energy transition goals, India needs sustained
momentum, Promoting clean energy investments, investing in low-carbon
technology research, effective policy management, and partnerships.
