About –

Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana (AVYAY) is a centrally sponsored scheme aimed at empowering senior citizens in India. It is part of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment's efforts to create an inclusive society.

Objective:

Ensure well-being and social inclusion of senior citizens

Components:

  1. Integrated Programme for Senior Citizens (IPSrC): Financial assistance for running and maintaining senior citizen homes.
  2. Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY): Assisted living devices for senior citizens with age-related disabilities.

Achievements:

  • 1.5 lakh beneficiaries in senior citizen homes
  • 361 districts covered
  • Rs. 288.08 crore grants released
  • 3,63,570 beneficiaries under IPSrC
  • 269 camps held under RVY
  • Rs. 140.34 crore released
  • 8,48,841 devices distributed to 1,57,514 beneficiaries
