About –
Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana (AVYAY) is a centrally sponsored scheme aimed at empowering senior citizens in India. It is part of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment's efforts to create an inclusive society.
Objective:
Ensure well-being and social inclusion of senior citizens
Components:
- Integrated Programme for Senior Citizens (IPSrC): Financial assistance for running and maintaining senior citizen homes.
- Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY): Assisted living devices for senior citizens with age-related disabilities.
Achievements:
- 1.5 lakh beneficiaries in senior citizen homes
- 361 districts covered
- Rs. 288.08 crore grants released
- 3,63,570 beneficiaries under IPSrC
- 269 camps held under RVY
- Rs. 140.34 crore released
- 8,48,841 devices distributed to 1,57,514 beneficiaries
